For clubs, facilities & league runners

Run it at your club.

We supply the league system.
You supply the courts and the community.

Wild Donkey is a drafted, team-based pickleball league with its own match format, scoring and wildcards. Authorized providers run it in their own market — no Wild Donkey staff on site, the same recognizable experience everywhere.

01 — The partnership

Our system. Your courts.

The goal is not a league that needs us in the building. It is a consistent, recognizable experience that a qualified provider can run in their own market, week after week.

Wild Donkey provides

  • League brand and operating standards
  • Rules, scoring and match formats
  • The provider playbook and match-day assets
  • Marketing templates and brand assets
  • Captain guidance and launch support

You provide

  • Courts and local facility operations
  • A designated league coordinator
  • Player recruitment and communication
  • Scheduling and on-site match management
  • Accurate score reporting and rule enforcement

02 — The format that travels

Same game. Every market.

Six-player rosters, three rounds a match and a set of wildcards that give it a personality a ladder or round robin never has. The full rundown is on the league page.

  • Roster 3 women · 3 men
  • Round 1 Jennies & Jacks
  • Round 2 Donkey Dubs
  • Round 3 Donkey Duel

The provider standard

  • The core match format, terminology, scoring and card rules stay the same in every market. That consistency is what makes it Wild Donkey.
  • Local scheduling and season length can be adapted to your facility within the provider agreement.
  • Local team identities and promotional personality are encouraged — as long as they sit alongside the league brand, not over it.

03 — Divisions

Start with one. Grow to three.

A simple division ladder is easy to explain to players and gives you a path from one pilot division to a full local league. A DUPR floor keeps the level honest, with room for two of the six on a roster to sit below it.

Elite

DUPR floor
4.5+

The top competitive division.

Premiere

DUPR floor
4.0+

The advanced competitive division.

Challenger

DUPR floor
3.5+

The entry competitive division — and the substitute pool.

Challenger doubles as the substitute pool: a team that cannot field two women and two men on a match night may call up a Challenger player rather than forfeit.

04 — Draft day, your way

Every roster is drafted.

Players register as individuals and captains build the teams. Pick the draft that suits your community — either way, captains, ratings, draft order and any keeper rules are set before the player pool is published.

Live draft

Captains — typically coaches at your facility — pick on the night, in front of the players. The event is the launch party.

  1. Captains confirmed
  2. Player registration
  3. Ratings verified
  4. Draft order set
  5. Live draft
  6. Rosters published
  7. Payment deadline
  8. Opening week

Closed draft

Captains — the highest-rated players registered — draft privately and the rosters are revealed together. Less production, same transparency.

  3. Ratings verified
  4. Draft order set
  5. Closed draft

05 — Is your club a fit?

What a strong provider looks like.

The best early partners have an established player community, dependable court access and one person who owns the league locally.

  1. 01

    Two courts at once

At least two courts available simultaneously for every scheduled team match.

  2. 02

    One accountable coordinator

A named person responsible for schedules, communication and score reporting.

  3. 03

    A first-season player pool

Enough interest for a pilot of 4–8 teams — roughly 24 to 48 players.

  4. 04

    Local reach

The ability to publish registration and recruit captains in your market.

  5. 05

    Commitment to the standard

Wild Donkey brand, roster, scoring and sportsmanship standards, kept intact.

  6. 06

    The current kit

Current match-day forms and approved promotional assets, used as supplied.

06 — From yes to opening week

Six steps to launch.

The same operating rhythm in every market. Approved providers get the full launch checklist and the kit to run each step.

  1. 1ApproveAgreement signed, coordinator named
  2. 2PlanCourts, dates and divisions secured
  3. 3RecruitCaptains in, registration open
  4. 4DraftRatings verified, rosters built
  5. 5PlayWeekly matches, scores reported
  6. 6ReportChampions crowned, season recapped

07 — Local league to national network

Prove it locally. Then grow.

The first job is a season your players want to repeat. Divisions, sponsors and inter-club play follow the demand — not the other way round.

  1. Pilot

    • One division
    • 4–8 teams
    • 24–48 players
  2. Grow

    • Multiple divisions
    • Repeat seasons
    • Local sponsors
  3. Connect

    • Regional events
    • Inter-provider play
    • Shared standards
  4. Championship

    • Local champions
    • Regional pathway
    • National event

A national championship is the future layer, not a requirement for your first season.

09 — Questions

Before you reach out.

Do we need Wild Donkey staff on site?

No. The whole model is built so a qualified local coordinator runs the league with the playbook and the kit. We support the launch; you run the nights.

Can we change the format?

The core match format, scoring, terminology and card rules stay consistent across every market. Your schedule, match windows and season length can be adapted to your facility within the provider agreement.

How big does our first season need to be?

We recommend a pilot of one division with 4–8 teams — 24 to 48 players — and at least two courts free at the same time for each team match.

Who sets the price players pay?

You do, within agreed brand and market guidelines. The provider model is a per-player license rather than a large upfront fee, so it grows with your league. Terms are set out in the provider agreement — ask us for the current founding- provider terms.

Can we use our own team names and sponsors?

Local team identities are encouraged. Where league sponsor rights apply to your territory or season, their placement is preserved; everything else is covered in the provider agreement.

What do we get once we are approved?

The provider playbook, match-day forms, Wild Donkey cards, captain quick-start, brand kit and marketing templates — plus launch support for your first season.
